Job summary

Royal Mail Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels in the Tewkesbury/Newent area. This permanent role offers 35 hours per week on a rotating schedule, including some weekends, with a full UK driving licence and the ability to work outdoors.

You will receive full training, a uniform, and a dedicated delivery route, combining activity with customer service as you build local relationships while walking and driving in all weather.

Location: Newent Delivery Office, GL20 8GT

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 35:00 hours per week - working 6 days in 7 for five weeks and the sixth week off across Monday - Sunday - 08:00/15:00*

You will be required to work from the Tewkesbury Delivery Office to provide cover for the Newent area.

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You may be required to work Sundays on a rota basis due to operation needs.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
