Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Redruth is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term contract of 9 months. You will sort and deliver letters and parcels, working 30 hours across a 5-days-in-6 schedule, including some weekends.

You’ll drive a Royal Mail van, walk when required, and engage customers on routes. Full training provided; flexible shifts and overtime available, with a strong community focus and outdoor work.

Location: Redruth Delivery Office, TR15 2AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract for 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 6 across Monday - Saturday - You will need to be flexible to cover shifts ranging from 08:00am-14:00pm to 12:00pm-18:00pm*.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
