Job summary

Skipton Building Society seeks a Principal Engineer for the Digital Experience Platform (DEP). You will set the technical direction, drive architectural patterns and accelerate safe, frequent releases across AEM-based and cross‑platform services.

You will mentor engineers, lead Communities of Practice, and partner with Architecture, DevSecOps, and QE to ensure secure-by-design, observable, high‑performing digital journeys for members and customers.

Qualifications

• Deep modern engineering craft across secure-by-design, cloud-native architectures and APIs/events.
• Mature AEMaaCS and Design System usage; platform wide engineering excellence.
• Experience coaching, mentoring and developing engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and engineering tenets for DEP.
• Define patterns, guardrails and architectural boundaries for safe, frequent changes.
• Drive VFQ, test automation and release observability across platforms.
• Coach engineers, lead Communities of Practice, influence hiring standards.
• Collaborate with Architecture, DevSecOps, QE, Release and Environments.
