Job summary

Skipton Building Society is seeking a Solutions Architect with a security focus to design secure, end-to-end technology solutions across a complex landscape. You’ll influence decisions, govern architecture, and embed security-by-design as we modernise platforms.

You’ll work in a hybrid model, typically spending three days in the Skipton office and two days from home, collaborating with product owners, delivery leads, and engineering teams to deliver resilient solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong solution architecture expertise with experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions.
• Security-minded approach, embedding security principles throughout solution design and delivery.
• Knowledge of security controls across identity, data, cloud and modern technology environments.
• Experience designing resilient, scalable architectures that balance risk, usability and delivery outcomes.
• Familiarity with modern architecture patterns (APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, cloud platforms) Azure experienced preferred
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across business, technology, engineering and risk stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to explain complex concepts and support decision-making at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end technology solutions aligned to enterprise architecture, strategy, and target-state capabilities
• Partner with product owners, delivery leads, and engineering teams to turn complex requirements into clear, actionable designs
• Guide and influence technical decisions, balancing short-term delivery with long-term sustainability
• Provide architectural governance and assurance across the delivery lifecycle
• Identify risks, trade-offs, and opportunities to improve simplicity, reuse, and coherence
• Champion modern architecture approaches, including API-led integration, cloud-native design, and reusable platforms
