Job description
Key Responsibilities

1.The General Builder / Plasterer will carry out a wide range of building, repair, maintenance, and plastering tasks to support JMJK Limited’s construction projects.

The role requires delivering work to a high professional standard, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining the company’s reputation for quality.

  • Carry out all aspects of plastering including skimming, rendering, drylining, coving, artex removal, bonding coats, and applying finishing coats.

Perform traditional plastering methods (e.g., lath and plaster repairs) and modern systems (e.g., plasterboard fixing, jointing, taping, dot-and-dab). Apply internal and external render systems, including monocouche, sand & cement, and decorative finishes.

Ensure surfaces are prepared correctly (cleaned, primed, and levelled) before plastering work commences.

Mix and apply plaster and render to achieve smooth, durable, and professional finishes.

Carry out patching and repair work on damaged walls and ceilings.

Assist in preparing sites, clearing materials, and mixing plaster/cement.

Ensure work is completed in line with drawings, specifications, and health & safety requirements.

Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in good condition.

Work collaboratively with other trades and site teams to complete projects efficiently.

Report progress, issues, and risks to the Site Manager or Director.

Follow company procedures and uphold JMJK Limited’s professional standards.

Skills and Competencies
  • Proven experience in plastering, including skimming, rendering, drylining, and finishing techniques.
  • Knowledge of traditional and modern plastering systems, materials, and application methods.
  • Ability to achieve high-quality finishes and rectify defects effectively.
  • Understanding of insulation and moisture-resistant plasterboard systems.
  • Competence in general building tasks to support wider site activities.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Good problem‑solving skills and adaptability on‑site.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and reliability.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plastering / General Construction (or equivalent).
  • CSCS Card (valid and in date).
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferred.
  • Evidence of relevant Health & Safety training (e.g., Asbestos Awareness, Manual Handling).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in general building and plastering roles.
