Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or above, BTEC or equivalent.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council required.
  • Must be up to date with Continual Professional Development (CPD).
  • Relevant pharmacy experience required.

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team at HMP Lancaster Farms, a category C prison located in the outskirts of Lancaster, Lancashire. HMP Lancaster Farm consists of 550 male inmates. The pharmacy team consists of 6 members; you will be based within the healthcare department but will also go onto the wings to dispense medication.

Hours
  • Monday - Sunday - 37.5 working 4 shifts per week
  • 7.30am - 5.30pm or 7.30am - 5pm
  • 1 in 6 weekends 8am - 5pm
  • Rota's are done 6 weeks in advance
Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £34,428 - £41,659 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide outstanding quality based patient centred care to our patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Focussing on providing a safe and secure medicines management service, ensuring patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care within the scope of professional standards. Involving anything from the timely administration of medicines through to analysing cost effective prescribing as defined through our unique health in justice medicines policy.
  • You will make a real difference by working as a key member of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3, or above, BTEC or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council

  • Relevant post-qualification pharmacy experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential; ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
