Our Pharmacy Technician rate of pay starts from £14.87 an hour; this increases for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

It's our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you'd like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you.

The availability windows are the times we’d like you to be available to work. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks' notice of exactly when your shifts will be. We are happy to support flexibility for our colleagues; if the times you are available match closely but not exactly to the advertised times, we’d still love to hear from you.

You will be responsible for

  • Accurately completing the checking process, following a clinical check by a pharmacist. When the skill mix within the pharmacy is not appropriate for the Accuracy Checking role to be in place, you will carry out the dispensing process.
  • Proactively identifying customers that need help and offering information on common ailments, symptoms and products.
  • Taking time to understand customers' needs, explaining product benefits clearly and only recommending appropriate products.
  • Advising customers on the range of Pharmacy services available.
  • Supporting and delivering Pharmacy Services and the Dispensing Process according to the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Effectively checking dispensed prescriptions for accuracy according to the SOPs.
  • Confidently checking the legal validity and accuracy of dispensed prescriptions
  • Responding to clinical and legal queries from Healthcare practitioners within area of competence.
  • Responding to customer queries related to prescription medicines and informing the Pharmacist of any complaints.
  • Ensuring all dispensary routines and SOPs are followed.
  • Keeping dispensary and consulting rooms clean, tidy and free of clutter.
  • Ensuring all prescription administration is accurate and completed on time with attention to detail.
  • Bringing promotional activities and company initiatives within the team to life.
  • Striving to meet departmental targets set by the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Carrying out procedures accurately to protect profit and ensure we trade safely and legally.
  • Supporting the Pharmacy Manager and Duty Pharmacy Manager with supervision and development of other pharmacy team members through coaching and feedback.
  • Being supportive of colleagues and management at all times.
  • Keeping up to date with legal and professional developments in pharmacy.
  • Registering with the General Pharmaceutical Council as an Accuracy Checking Technician, completing a GPhC recognised training course, following successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program, NVQ 3 or equivalent.
  • Upholding the GPhC standards and public trust in pharmacy to meet professional, fitness to practise and ethical standards, and undertaking Continuing Professional Development and maintaining annual GPhC registration.

You will need

  • A pharmacy technician/accuracy checking technician NVQ (or similar) qualification
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician/Accuracy Checking Technician
  • Proof of completion of a recognised training course for an Accuracy Checking Technician/ Pharmacy Technician
  • Proof of completing annual Continuing Professional Development requirements
