Job summary

Volvo Group in Peterborough is launching an Apprentice HGV Technician program for 2027. The role spans 32 months with a 40-hour week, starting in May or August 2027. Training combines in-work learning, Inspiro Academy blocks in Derby, and IMI qualifications, including Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3.

Participants receive full equipment, tools, and coaching while learning to service and maintain modern trucks and buses, including hybrid technology, under Volvo supervision.

Qualifications

• GCSEs including Math and English at grade A* to C are required.
• Interest in heavy vehicles and mechanical systems is essential.
• Willingness to learn and complete college courses during the apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs using Volvo Standard Times and Volvo Special Tools.
• Aid in fault diagnosis and warranty procedures during repairs.
• Work with parts team to fit correct replacement parts.
• Learn to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
• Help keep the workshop clean and organized.
• Attend college courses and any technical training offered.
