Job summary

Volvo Group in Reading is offering HGV Technician Apprenticeships starting in 2027. You will join a structured 32-month program, with on-site training at Inspiro Heavy Vehicle Academy and block release for IMI qualifications. A dedicated development coach will support you, and accommodation/travel costs are covered by the employer.

Starting salary is £8.72 per hour, with access to Volvo employee benefits and clear career progression within the Volvo Group.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic individuals with a strong interest in heavy vehicles.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and a desire to learn.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Strong communication skills and a team player mentality.
• GCSE A* to C in Math and English is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs carried out to Volvo Standard Times using Volvo tools.
• Assist in fault diagnosis and learn warranty procedures.
• Work with parts team to fit correct replacement parts.
• Learn to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
• Attend college courses and block-release training at Inspiro Heavy Vehicle Academy.
• Ensure PPE is worn and time recording procedures are followed.
