Job summary

Volvo Trucks is launching Apprentice HGV Technician roles in Peterborough. The 32‑month Advanced Level Apprenticeship combines on‑the‑job training with college blocks at Inspiro Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby. You will learn repairs, diagnostics, and warranty procedures while working with Volvo tools and expert Technicians.

Starting May or August 2027, the programme provides full equipment, paid college time, and a pathway to a skilled technician role within Volvo Group.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (A*–C) or equivalent.
• Strong interest in heavy vehicles and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs carried out in accordance with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo Special Tools.
• Assist in fault diagnosis.
• Learn and apply warranty procedures on completion of repairs.
• Assist with the parts team to ensure correct replacement parts are fitted.
• Learn how to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
• Assist with workshop cleanliness and safety.
• Ensure time recording procedures and job cards are completed accurately.
• Report vehicle defects to the workshop Supervisor.
• Wear PPE when required.
• Attend college courses regularly and achieve the required standards.
• Attend technical or development training offered by the company.
