A leading manufacturing business located in Thatcham is seeking a People Manager to provide HR advisory services and ensure compliance with policies. This role involves managing employee relations, supporting recruitment, and guiding management on various HR processes. The ideal candidate will have strong generalist HR experience, particularly in handling disciplinaries, grievances, and coaching. Familiarity with SAP HR and Workday is advantageous. A strong focus on exceptional service and staff engagement is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing disciplinaries and grievances.
  • Strong HR Advisory and coaching abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for People / HR queries.
  • Coordinate confidential employee administration.
  • Guide management on employee relations and performance management.
  • Support case management for absence reviews and investigations.
  • Prepare formal letters/contracts for employees.
  • Manage time and attendance system and payroll systems.
  • Support end-to-end recruitment and onboarding.
  • Ensure audits and compliance are met.
  • Engage with local Trade Union representatives.

Overview

This manufacturing business based in Thatcham is looking for a People Manager to join their team. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will provide a professional generalist HR advisory service to managers and staff on site. You will ensure that People processes are legally compliant and in line with group policies and procedures and support the business to attract, develop and retain colleagues. With a personable approach and a passion for providing exceptional service, you\'ll play a frontline role within their operation and people team.

Responsibilities
  • Be the first point of contact for People / HR queries
  • Coordinate and support confidential employee administration
  • Guide management on employee relations, performance management and absence management, including managing long term absence cases
  • Support with case management, including note taking and providing professional HR advice during formal processes such as absence reviews, investigations, disciplinary and grievance meetings
  • Preparation of formal letters/contracts for new and existing employees
  • Manage the internal time and attendance system and Work Day platform, ensuring managers are effectively using the payroll systems
  • Support with end to end recruitment, selection and onboarding
  • Responsibility for audits and compliance
  • Engage with local Trade Union representatives
Experience and skills required
  • Experience of working in an HR Generalist role / HR Advisor role
  • Experience or managing disciplinaries and grievances
  • Strong HR Advisory and coaching abilities
  • Experience with SAP HR. SAP Time and Attendance and Workday is an advantage
