Job summary

Boots Group is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead a customer-facing team in a busy retail pharmacy environment. You’ll coach staff, manage performance and ensure safe, compliant store operations while delivering strong commercial results. Experience in pharmacy retail and rota planning is highly valued.

You’ll be on the shop floor daily, guiding teams, managing stock and ensuring excellent customer care. Opportunities to progress into broader leadership roles exist within Boots.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team in a customer-facing environment.
• Able to inspire and coach others, and manage performance.
• Strong organisational skills including rota planning and managing absence.
• Clear understanding of compliance, safety and operational standards.
• Collaborative, team-focused; able to use systems and data to inform decisions.
• Experience in pharmacy or regulated retail environment preferred or willingness to work towards qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead your team on the shop floor with coaching and role-modeling of great care and commercial performance.
• Provide a positive, supportive team environment to motivate colleagues.
• Coach, develop and line manage your team with regular conversations and clear goals.
• Oversee day-to-day store operations: planning, scheduling, staffing and workload prioritisation.
• Maintain high store standards: cleanliness, safety and easy shopping experience.
• Own stock availability, cost control and loss prevention.
• Ensure compliance by completing audits and risk assessments.
• Use data and reports to identify opportunities and take action.
• Lead store in the Store Leader’s absence and make accountable decisions.
