Job summary

National Highways is seeking an Engineer to join the Pavement/Roads Team within the Operations Directorate in the South East region. You will develop and deliver pavement renewal schemes, ensuring safety and reliability for customers now and in the future.

Your role involves coordinating with project teams and third parties, supporting asset studies, and applying DMRB standards and CDM 2015 principles across the highway network.

Qualifications

• Membership of professional Body (desirable) or working towards Membership.
• Degree or HND in relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of DMRB standards and their application on the highway network.
• Experience in highway infrastructure design, construction and delivery methods.
• Good knowledge of CDM 2015.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety of customers and employees throughout planning and delivery.
• Support asset studies and survey works, prioritising needs to keep assets in serviceable condition.
• Lead development of early renewal/improvement solutions, including evidence and options.
• Develop technical briefs for design and construction contractors.
• Provide technical support to Project Managers with materials approvals and site inspections.
