Job summary

Humberstone Medical Centre in East Leicester is seeking a motivated Patient Service Advisor to join our friendly team. The role involves greeting patients face-to-face, handling telephone inquiries, booking and amending appointments, and supporting the care journey with accurate record-keeping and GDPR-compliant processes.

You will work across reception and back-office tasks, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and delivering high-quality, patient-centred service in a busy GP practice

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths with evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Experience in customer-facing or administrative roles in healthcare is preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork and confidentiality are essential.

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient queries and incoming calls professionally.
• Greet patients and visitors at reception in a friendly manner.
• Book, cancel, and amend patient appointments using the clinical system.
• Arrange interpreters for patient appointments when needed.
• Provide test results to patients in line with protocol.
• Handle administrative queries and patient requests.
• Register new and temporary patients, ensuring all paperwork is completed.
• Record and maintain up-to-date patient information on the clinical system.
• Support clinicians and managers with general administrative tasks.
• Carry out opening and closing reception procedures.
• Provide general admin support across the practice.
• Provide cover during staff leave or busy periods.
• Complete ad-hoc duties as directed by management.
