Job summary

Cathcart Street Practice in Ayr is seeking a friendly Medical Receptionist to join our busy GP Practice. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

27 hours over 3 days with wage dependant on experience. Key duties include greeting patients, booking and updating appointments on the clinical system, handling enquiries, and supporting clinicians and colleagues while maintaining confidentiality and

Qualifications

• GP practice or healthcare experience desirable but not essential.
• Excellent telephone and note-taking skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Confident with computer systems; experience with clinical systems is advantageous.
• Proficient with Windows and Outlook.
• Ability to stay calm in a busy environment.
• Commitment to patient care and confidentiality.
• Reliable and flexible to cover annual leave and sickness.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming patients in person and responding to calls courteously and efficiently.
• Booking, amending and cancelling appointments using the clinical system.
• Managing patient queries and signposting appropriately.
• Handling correspondence, prescriptions and general administrative duties.
• Workflow optimisation via Docman system.
• Supporting clinicians and colleagues as part of a collaborative practice team.
• Adhering to confidentiality, GDPR and practice policies at all times.
