Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a dedicated Pastoral & Behaviour Support Mentor for a Blackpool secondary school to assist Key Stage 3 and 4 students with SEMH needs. The role focuses on de‑escalation, trust-building, and supportive guidance within a calm pastoral hub.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring, use positive behaviour management, and work with SENDCo/DSLs to monitor pupil progress and safeguarding logs.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 6 months supporting vulnerable youth (LAC, looked-after children, PRUs, or equivalent).
• Strong de-escalation abilities, emotional resilience, firm and fair boundary-setting, and an empathetic approach.
• Compliance: DBS update service enhanced check and full reference history preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring for secondary students with SEMH needs.
• Apply positive behaviour management and non-confrontational de-escalation techniques in the classroom.
• Act as a trusted role model to help pupils engage with learning and build self-esteem.
• Support attendance, reintegration into mainstream classes, and emotional well-being.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, SENDCo, and DSLs to maintain pupil tracking and safeguarding logs.
