Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join a caring secondary school in Blackpool. You will support students aged 11–16 facing social, emotional, behavioural, or attendance challenges to stay engaged with learning.

Based in Blackpool, the role involves working with Heads of Year, safeguarding, and external partners to create a calm, inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive during standard school hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in a pastoral, behaviour support, youth work or learning mentor role in education or youth settings.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with adolescents while maintaining firm boundaries.
• Confident in behaviour management, restorative approaches and de-escalation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral interventions for students with emotional or behavioural needs.
• Act as a first responder to classroom disruptions using restorative conversations.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality and behaviour data to support re-engagement plans.
• Facilitate mediation and restorative sessions to resolve conflicts among peers.
• Serve as a key contact for parents, building strong school-home partnerships.
• Collaborate with DSL, SENCO, Heads of Year and external services.
