Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is partnering with an Alternative Provision in the Blackburn area to recruit a Youth Mentor / Pastoral Worker.

You will support KS2–KS4 students (ages 7–16) with SEMH needs, providing mentoring, emotional support, and guidance to re-engage with education. The role involves 1:1 and group mentoring, trauma-informed behaviour support, and collaboration with teaching staff on tailored interventions.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people in educational or care settings.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to process one via Tradewind).
• Willing to undergo DBS through Tradewind.
• Ability to engage and support pupils with SEMH needs across KS2–KS4.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to build trust with students.
• Deliver interventions focused on emotional regulation, social skills, resilience, and conflict management.
• Apply trauma-informed approaches to behaviour support and de-escalation.
• Support classroom staff during academic, creative, or vocational sessions to maintain engagement.
