Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Ward Clerk for the Day Stay Unit at Southend Hospital. You will provide essential administrative support, manage reception duties, handle calls, and relay messages to the clinical team to help the unit run smoothly.

Qualifications

• Experience in a health care or similar customer care environment.
• Previous ward clerk experience.
• Good standard of literacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide a professional and courteous reception service to patients, relatives, carers, visitors, and members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Answer telephone calls promptly and appropriately in accordance with Trust telephone protocols.
• Receive, communicate, and relay messages accurately and in a timely manner to the appropriate staff member.
• Respond to routine enquiries, both face-to-face and by telephone, within agreed limits and seek assistance when required.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, carers, colleagues, and other departments to support the delivery of patient care.
• Demonstrate a professional, compassionate, and customer-focused approach when interacting with patients and visitors.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff across the Trust.
