Job summary

VolkerWessels UK is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Officer for a 1-year fixed term contract, working 26.5 hours per week at our Hoddesdon head office. You will handle weekly and monthly payroll processing, data input, and reconciliation, while ensuring statutory compliance and timely delivery.

You will support the Payroll Manager, respond to employee queries, and collaborate with internal teams to meet deadlines. This role is office-based in Hoddesdon and requires prior payroll experience.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable payroll experience.
• Good understanding of statutory payroll legislation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Experience processing manual payroll calculations.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time.
• Prepare, input and process payroll data for allocated payrolls.
• Check and reconcile payroll outputs prior to BACS submission.
• Review payrolls processed by others to meet deadlines.
• Respond to employee payroll queries professionally and confidentially.
• Liaise with internal departments to receive payroll information on time.
• Support the Payroll Manager and payroll team with ad-hoc duties and projects.
