Allen Associates in Oxford is seeking a Payroll Officer for a 6-month fixed-term contract. You will manage monthly payroll for UK employees, handle queries, and support HR/payroll projects in a hybrid setup with two days in East Oxford.

The ideal candidate holds a recognised payroll qualification, strong Excel skills, and solid UK payroll knowledge, including tax, pensions and NI guidance. Competitive salary up to £45,000, pro-rata leave, and private healthcare.

Qualifications

• Recognised payroll qualification is essential.
• GCSE Maths and English qualifications.
• Up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation.
• Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.
• Experience advising employees on tax, pension and NI issues.
• Understanding of HR processes affecting payroll (onboarding, performance management).
• Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsabilités

• Process monthly payroll for 500+ UK employees and several European staff.
• Coordinate with outsourced payroll provider and issue clear instructions.
• Respond to employee payroll queries on payslips, pensions, tax and NI.
• Manage payroll-related lifecycle activities (new starters, salary changes, promotions, changes in pay).
• Analyse complex payroll data in Excel to support reporting and decision-making.
• Keep payroll information confidential with high accuracy.
• Support broader HR admin and payroll process improvements.
• Assist with ad hoc payroll/HR projects.
