Job summary

VolkerWessels UK is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Officer for a 1-year fixed term contract, working 26.5 hours per week at our Hoddesdon head office. You will handle weekly and monthly payroll processing, data input, and reconciliation, while ensuring statutory compliance and timely delivery.

You will support the Payroll Manager, respond to employee queries, and collaborate with internal teams to meet deadlines. This role is office-based in Hoddesdon and requires prior payroll experience.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our team on a 1-year fixed term contract. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of both our weekly and monthly payrolls while maintaining compliance with statutory legislation and company policies.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional seeking a flexible, part-time role within a supportive team environment.

Please note that this role is an office-based role at our Hoddesdon head office. This is a 1 year maternity cover fixed term contract, Part time working 26.5 hours per week.

About our role

• Process weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time.
• Prepare, input, and process payroll data for allocated payrolls.
• Check and reconcile payroll outputs prior to BACS submission.
• Review payrolls processed by other team members to help ensure BACS deadlines are met.
• Respond to employee payroll queries in an efficient, professional, and confidential manner.
• Liaise with internal departments to ensure payroll information is received within required deadlines.
• Support the Payroll Manager and wider payroll team with ad-hoc duties and projects as required.

About you

• Demonstrable payroll experience.

• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
