Job summary

Teaching Vacancies is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant Level 2 to support literacy development at Chorlton High School in Manchester. This 30-hour/week, term-time post offers pro-rata pay and contributes to pupils’ reading and writing progress.

You will work with teachers and parents to deliver targeted literacy support, track progress, and promote safeguarding and inclusive practices within the school community.

Qualifications

• Good level of English and maths required.
• Experience working with children of a relevant age.
• Ability to relate to children and adults.
• Understanding of child development and learning processes.
• Ability to understand the National Curriculum and learning programs.
• Commitment to maintaining professional knowledge.
• Tact and diplomacy in relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned literacy intervention programmes to individuals or small groups.
• Support pupils below age-related expectations in reading and writing.
• Assist teachers in assessing literacy progress and identifying development areas.
• Monitor, record and report pupil progress.
• Encourage pupil engagement, confidence and independence in learning.
• Prepare learning resources and intervention materials.
• Work with teachers, SEND staff and parents to support pupils' achievement.
• Promote safeguarding, equality and inclusion at all times.
