Job summary

The University of Cambridge’s Department of Earth Sciences seeks a part-time IT Technician (0.6 FTE) to join the IT team, delivering first and second line support, handling service requests and hardware tasks across two Cambridge sites. Flexibility to travel between sites is required.

The role requires a vocational qualification (HND/HNC/Level 4/5) or equivalent experience, with Windows and macOS support skills, strong communication, and teamwork. Fixed-term funds available until 31 October 2027.

Qualifications

• Experience providing user support and troubleshooting Windows and macOS.
• Ability to manage and prioritise tasks in a busy IT environment.
• Experience in IT department; Higher Education experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide first and second line IT support to users.
• Respond to service requests, investigate and diagnose issues.
• Install/remove hardware and assist with website administration.
• Collaborate with the IT team and travel between Cambridge sites.
