Job summary

Compass Group UK&I, via Chartwells, is seeking a part-time Catering Manager to oversee all catering and service operations at a school site. The role covers 30 hours per week across 43.6 weeks per year, with responsibilities spanning kitchen and service counter efficiency, budget monitoring, and continuous food quality improvements.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of catering experience, team leadership skills, and qualifications such as NVQ Level 1 & 2 or City & Guilds 706/1 and 2,

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years catering experience.
• Experience managing teams in a similar role.
• NVQ Level 1 & 2 or City & Guilds 706/1 and 2.
• Basic Food Hygiene certificate.
• Demonstrate brilliant financial acumen.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare delicious food to the highest standards.
• Supervise culinary and catering teams to ensure impeccable food and service.
• Oversee in-unit catering operations including inventories and budgets.
• Communicate with line manager to monitor KPIs and targets.
• Represent Compass Group UK&I and the Chartwells brand.
• Identify opportunities for new food or service concepts to drive sales.
• Liaise between customers and teams to exceed expectations.
• Support and train teams, leading from the front.
• Implement and review Health & Safety standards across teams.
