Purcell is an award‑winning, employee‑owned architectural and heritage consultancy based in the UK, specialising in conservation and contemporary design. We work on projects such as the Parliamentary Estate and the Palace of Westminster.
Responsibilities
- Continuously develop knowledge of Purcell's unique approach to architectural conservation and design, applying these principles and sharing them with the team.
- Collaborate with experienced architects, designers and consultants, contributing expertise and supporting the team through various project phases to ensure smooth delivery and high‑quality outcomes.
- Create detailed 2D technical drawings and 3D models using industry‑standard software such as AutoCAD and Revit, assisting the design team with visualising concepts and ensuring accuracy in documentation.
- Actively participate in the development of design packages, from initial concepts and schematic designs to detailed architectural drawings, refining ideas and producing work that aligns with client expectations and conservation standards.
- Conduct site surveys and visits to assess existing conditions, gather information for design work and provide valuable input to project teams, ensuring designs align with site conditions and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparing professional, high‑quality presentation documents for client meetings, public presentations and project submissions, communicating design intent, technical solutions and goals clearly.
- Gain hands‑on experience in architectural conservation, applying specialised skills to protect, repair and restore historic buildings while sharing knowledge with colleagues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in architectural studies equivalent to Part 1.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop and Twinmotion.
- Good hand‑drawing and sketching skills.
- Strong presentation skills (visual, written and spoken) and contribution to high‑quality documentation.
- Understanding of industry technical standards and statutory requirements.
- Proactive “can‑do” attitude.
- Ability to manage oneself, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Personable, confident and with a strong sense of team spirit.
- Willingness to work on conservation‑led projects and deepen understanding of historic buildings.
