Job summary

A leading GP surgery in Peterborough is seeking a full-time Paramedic Practitioner for a one-year fixed-term position. The role includes providing on-the-day appointments, triaging patients, and conducting home visits. Ideal candidates will hold a degree in Paramedicine and have relevant clinical experience. This position offers competitive remuneration based on AfC Bands 6 to 8a.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years post-registration clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent.
  • Registration with the HCPC is mandatory.
  • Clean driving licence required.
  • Minor Illness and Independent Prescribing qualifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-the-day appointments for patients with minor illnesses.
  • Triage patients requesting home visits.
  • Undertake home visits in the community.

Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1‑year fixed‑term Paramedic Practitioner position within Peterborough's largest GP surgery, Boroughbury Medical Centre.

About us

Boroughbury Medical Centre is a modern, state‑of‑the‑art GP practice with four sites across the City of Peterborough, catering to a diverse patient community of over 45,000. The practice employs a multidisciplinary team of 20 doctors, 6 ACPs, 18 nurses, 8 paramedics, 6 clinical pharmacists and 8 HCAs. We are a registered training practice and actively involved in research.

Job responsibilities

As a Paramedic Practitioner you will provide on‑the‑day appointments to patients presenting with minor illness, triage patients requesting home visits and undertake suitable home visits within the community, including nursing and residential homes. The role has grown and many of our existing practitioners hold Masters degrees as Advanced Practitioners.

Person specification

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • holds a degree/diploma in Paramedicine (or equivalent experience);
  • has at least three years post‑registration clinical experience at Band 6 (or equivalent);
  • is registered with the HCPC and holds a clean driving licence;
  • has or can obtain Minor Illness, Advanced Clinical Assessment and/or Independent Prescribing qualifications (desirable);
  • has previous experience in primary care or general practice (advantageous).
Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.

Remuneration

Posts are commensurate with AfC Bands 6, 7 and 8a. The position is full‑time, fixed‑term for one year.
