Job description

Are you a motivated, enthusiastic individual committed to delivering high-quality care to children and families? Do you thrive in a dynamic and supportive environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team on Holly Ward and the Paediatric Assessment Unit at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

We are a friendly, supportive team passionate about delivering high-quality care to our patients and their families, working closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Please note that we can only consider applications from individuals with a live NMC registration or UK nursing students awaiting their PIN, as we are currently unable to support OSCE.

Holly Ward is a 19-bedded ward comprising 6 en-suite cubicles, 3 four-bedded bays, and one HDU room. We serve children from 0-18 years, depending on their condition. The ward includes a busy day surgery area and takes up to 6 surgical patients daily. The Paediatric Assessment Unit admits up to 9 patients and is a referral point for GPs and other health professionals for admissions and assessments, as well as managing patients from the Emergency Department.

We offer development opportunities for team members to enhance their careers, skills, and knowledge. As part of this role, you will be expected to rotate to Amazon Ward at Peterborough City Hospital when needed.

We are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from all backgrounds, especially individuals from disabled, Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, and those from our local area.

In line with our employee support initiatives, we offer various benefits. Please see the attached staff benefits leaflet for more information.

Our workplace aims to be supportive and inclusive, making employees feel valued and empowered. Join us to make a positive difference in our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. To assess, implement, and evaluate programmes of physical, social, and emotional care for children and adolescents, aligned with current evidence, policies, guidelines, and NMC Code of Practice.
  2. To develop an environment that values nursing care.
  3. To act as an advocate for children receiving care.
