Job description
Overview

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

This role involves working within a centralised team, accepting referrals from divisional staff across the Force, in order to progress cases deemed suitable for an Out of Court Resolution (OoCR). The OoCR Case Worker will be responsible for working through targeted interventions with adult offenders as part of an agreement, leading to an Out of Court Resolution as an alternative to being charged and having to attend court.

Key Accountabilities
  • Contact victims of crime and ascertain what they need to ‘make it right’ and promote victim welfare and satisfaction as part of the conditional caution process.
  • Contact offenders and carry out a needs assessment for adults to identify reasons for offending.
  • Work with offenders with complex needs such as drug, drink addiction and mental health issues.
  • Identify and use local interventions, tailoring agreements where appropriate, including community reparation opportunities.
  • Liaise with the Restorative Justice Team for conditional cautions following RJ principles, such as reparation activity.
  • Identify matters of a safeguarding nature involving any vulnerable adults and children and make appropriate referrals.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with appropriate local partners and colleagues within the organisation.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as reasonably required.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Grade C or above in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others at all levels, in a team and with partners.
  • Ability to interact positively and sensitively with adults from hard‑to‑reach vulnerable groups.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems, negotiating solutions.
  • Ability to work both in a team and autonomously without direction from supervisors, taking personal responsibility to achieve goals.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and to be a champion of ethical Out of Court Disposal options.
  • Personal resilience to handle material of a sensitive and/or distressing nature.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to drive and be willing to use their car for work County‑wide.
  • The post holder must be capable of passing and maintaining the relevant Force vetting procedure.
  • The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro‑rata if the working hours are less than full time.
Benefits
  • Career progression
  • Contributory pension scheme (LGPS)
  • Generous annual leave allowance
  • Discounts for everyday spend
