Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity to join Thames Water as an Operations Performance Manager based at our wastewater treatment site on the outskirts of Oxford.

You will be leading a newly created frontline support team of technicians responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations and improvements of wastewater treatment processes at Oxford STW for the project upgrade, within the Thames Valley North Area of Waste & Bioresources Operations.

With the impact of our operations on the environment being at the forefront of everything we do, you will be tasked to steer performance improvements on the site, with the opportunity to implement ways to change what we do for the better of all parties, mainly our customers and the environment.

If this is you, we are looking for someone to join our Operations Team in Wastewater that offers a brilliant opportunity for you to establish a career with Thames Water in frontline operations.

What you’ll be doing as a Performance Manager
  1. Health and Safety – Lead the Health & Safety culture of the team, ensuring good practices and compliance are adhered to.
  2. Process Management – Manage site compliance, ensuring plant availability and reliability to meet quality targets set by our regulator.
  3. Performance Management – Drive the team to achieve optimal performance, develop skills, and promote safety awareness.
  4. Financial Management – Manage the team’s budget and drive operational efficiencies.
  5. Customer & Stakeholder Management – Provide exceptional service to our customers with proactive interventions as needed.

Additional details:

  • Base location: Oxford Sewage Treatment Works, OX4 4XU
  • Working pattern: 36 hours/week, Monday to Friday
  • Internal job title: Project Support Team Coordinator
What you should bring to the role

We seek an experienced people manager with:

  • Proven success in managing operational teams, demonstrating leadership, coaching, and motivation skills.
  • Experience in leading and fostering a Health & Safety culture, with IOSH or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adaptable and decisive in a fast-paced environment.
  • A track record of raising team standards and computer literacy, including data analysis with Microsoft packages.
