We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join Thames Water as an Operations Performance Manager based at our wastewater treatment site on the outskirts of Oxford.

You will be leading a newly created frontline support team of technicians responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations and improvements of wastewater treatment processes at Oxford STW for the project upgrade, within the Thames Valley North Area of Waste & Bioresources Operations.

With the impact of our operations on the environment being at the forefront of everything we do, you will be tasked to steer performance improvements on the site, with the opportunity to implement changes for the betterment of all parties, mainly our customers and the environment.

What you’ll be doing as a Performance Manager
  1. Health and Safety – Lead the Health & Safety culture of the team, fostering an environment where good practices are routine and compliance is maintained.
  2. Process Management – Ensure site compliance, plant availability, and reliability to meet quality targets set by our regulator.
  3. Performance Management – Drive the team to achieve optimal performance, develop skills, and promote safety awareness.
  4. Financial Management – Manage the team’s budget and drive efficiencies.
  5. Customer & Stakeholder Management – Provide exceptional service to our customers with proactive interventions.
  6. Base location: Oxford Sewage Treatment Works, OX4 4XU
  7. Working pattern: 36 hours/week, Monday to Friday
  8. Internal job title: Project Support Team Coordinator
What you should bring to the role
  • Experience managing an operational team, demonstrating strong leadership, coaching, and engagement skills.
  • Experience in leading a Health & Safety culture, ensuring compliance.
  • Ideally IOSH or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt and make decisions quickly.
  • Proven ability to raise team standards.
  • Computer literacy, with the ability to analyze data using Microsoft packages.
