Job description

Location: Priory House, Monks Walk, Chicksands, Shefford, SG17 5TQ

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 3+ Months

Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:00, 37 Hours per week

Pay Rate: £22.74 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Promote the optimal use of the Council\'s assets for service delivery and ensure a favorable return from commercial and agricultural investments.
  • Facilitate regeneration and act as a single, integrated service area responsible for full operational and strategic facilities and estates management on the council\'s non-housing properties.
  • Provide strong line management and lead the development of the Council\'s operational estates, facilities, maintenance, and minor works.
  • Oversee a robust maintenance management system, ensuring both planned and reactive maintenance, operational compliance, and strategic delivery.
  • Manage cleaning, security, and maintenance services, leading procurement processes, evaluating contractor performance, and ensuring value-for-money outcomes.
  • Act as Contract Manager, responsible for contract governance, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring performance outcomes are met.
  • Oversee investment planning and minor works across the estate, including upgrades, repairs, and compliance with lease obligations.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours on-call system.
Person Specifications
  • Experience in asset management and a strong understanding of facilities and estates management.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop operational teams.
  • Experience in managing maintenance systems and ensuring compliance with strategic objectives.
  • Strong procurement skills and the ability to evaluate contractor performance effectively.
  • Excellent contract management skills, with experience in governance and supplier relationship management.
  • Ability to oversee investment planning and manage minor works projects.
  • Willingness to be part of an out-of-hours on-call system.
