Job summary

Computacenter in Preston is seeking a Desktop Support Engineer to deliver hands-on technical support across a busy customer environment. You will resolve incidents, fulfil service requests and ensure users receive a responsive, high-quality support experience, with onsite presence in Preston.

The role covers incident handling to SLA, project tasks, and coordinating with Level 3 teams. You’ll install and configure software and hardware, support laptops, desktops, networks and peripherals, while

Qualifications

• Windows 10/11 knowledge including build and registry settings.
• Desirable LTSC Channels and KIOSK experience.
• Basic SCCM/Active Directory understanding and ITSM familiarity.
• Networking: LAN/WAN/VLAN, Wi‑Fi, DHCP, DNS, VPN.
• Outlook/Exchange knowledge and general IT etiquette.
• Strong customer service, flexible hours; UK driving licence; SC clearance or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Undertake incident and request tasks
• 2nd line responsibility for resolving incidents to SLA
• Maintain a <2% incident per month target
• Complete assigned works within allocated timeframes
• Undertake Project Tasks, supporting Project Managers
• Undertake Non-Standard Requests tasks to agreed timescales
• Proactively communicate with Level 3 teams to highlight major issues
• Resolve technical issues for laptop/desktop hardware, networks, printers, etc.
• Install & configure software and hardware
