GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC, is seeking a Battery Controls Engineer to develop robust embedded software for the HV battery management system and related components. You will implement real-time control algorithms, data acquisition, and diagnostics in C/C++ within a trackside motorsport context.

The role requires deep knowledge of battery control algorithms, high voltage systems, and RTOS, with experience in MiL/SiL/HiL testing and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related field; OR Bachelor's with 5+ years embedded software development.
• Expertise in battery management systems and battery control algorithms: protection, derating, SOC, SOH.
• Familiarity with HV battery physics and high voltage bus networks.
• Strong proficiency in embedded C and RTOS; experience with CAN, CAN FD, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART.
• Experience with MiL/SiL/HiL, and trackside testing in motorsport or automotive environments.
• Knowledge of functional safety and software quality practices is beneficial.

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded software for HV battery management and related components.
• Implement real-time data acquisition, HW abstraction layers, and diagnostics features.
• Collaborate with controls and electrical hardware teams to ensure cohesive system operation.
• Perform software verification/validation including MiL/SiL/HiL and trackside testing.
• Create requirements and unit tests; maintain robust, scalable codebases.
• Adhere to safety standards in high-performance motorsport applications.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement.
