Job Description

We’re looking for a Shift Leader at One Stop, a Tesco subsidiary, in a fast-paced retail environment. You will oversee store activities, run duty shifts, and coordinate a team to maintain a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.

You will focus on improving customer service through coaching, understand store performance, and implement practical improvements. Ensuring safety and security is also key.

You will be Responsible For

  • Leading the team to provide a seamless shopping experience
  • Opening/closing the store, managing duty coverage, and making decisions prioritizing safety and customer service
  • Acting as the point of contact during the Store Manager’s absence
  • Supporting store events and community activities
  • Maintaining store cleanliness and presentation
  • Replenishing stock and managing point of sale displays
  • Addressing overcharges and managing queues
  • Scheduling staff breaks and managing staffing levels
  • Following health and safety routines
  • Communicating effectively with the team
  • Seeking operational improvements and sharing ideas with the Store Manager
  • Prioritizing customer needs and resolving queries
  • Recognizing colleagues’ good service
  • Addressing obstacles to service delivery
  • Handling colleague queries or escalating as needed
  • Managing store staffing, including cover for absences
  • Being a Keyholder and attending alarm call outs
  • Monitoring internal communications and ensuring timely actions
  • Balancing service and replenishment tasks
  • Supporting absence management and conducting return-to-work interviews
  • Building relationships with Area Managers and People Partners
  • For stores with a Post Office Local, managing daily Post Office operations and passing background checks
