Job Description

We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.

You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, coordinating a team to deliver a clean and fully stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.

Since the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.

You will have a strong understanding of your store's performance and be the specialist in implementing practical improvements by taking a hands-on approach.

With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.

You will be Responsible For
  1. Coordinating the team to deliver a seamless shopping experience for the community.
  2. Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and safety.
  3. Serving as the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for daily operational queries.
  4. Supporting the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to foster an inclusive atmosphere.
  5. Ensuring the store is clean, tidy, and well-presented at all times.
  6. Prioritizing the replenishment of products important to our customers.
  7. Making sure point of sale and shelf edge labels are accurate and reflect high standards.
  8. Addressing overcharges immediately and preventing reoccurrence.
  9. Managing queues proactively to ensure a positive shopping experience.
  10. Coordinating colleagues to meet daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns.
  11. Being knowledgeable about store operations and leading practical improvements.
  12. Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same.
  13. Communicating effectively with the team to keep everyone informed.
  14. Identifying ways to simplify operations and sharing ideas with the Store Manager.
  15. Always putting the customer first and tailoring service to meet their needs.
  16. Resolving customer queries promptly and with a positive attitude.
  17. Recognizing colleagues who deliver excellent service.
  18. Removing obstacles that hinder delivering great service.
  19. Resolving colleague queries in the absence of the Store Manager or escalating as needed.
  20. Ensuring appropriate staffing levels, covering shifts due to short-term absences or sickness.
  21. Being a Keyholder responsible for store security, including attending alarm call outs.
  22. Monitoring and acting on internal communications promptly.
  23. Feeding back store issues to the Store Manager and coordinating responses.
  24. Balancing service and replenishment duties effectively.
  25. Supporting the Store Manager in managing staff absences and conducting return-to-work interviews.
  26. Building relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, escalating issues and seeking coaching opportunities.
  27. If the store has a Post Office Local, your duties will include managing daily operations of the post office, requiring passing a background check for financial and criminal records. Failure to pass these checks will result in withdrawal of the job offer.
