About Us:
We are a combined Video Production Agency and Film Studio based in London. Fortemus Films is an award-winning video production agency. Kennington Film Studios is a commercial film & photography studio in Central London, featuring 3 sound-treated studio spaces across 4,500 sqft and 1 podcast/vodcast studio.
The Role:
We are seeking a combined Financial Controller and Office Manager to join our award-winning, established film and video production agency and film studio.
Reporting to the Fractional CFO and Managing Director, your responsibilities will include:
Finance:
- Overseeing all accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Preparing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Managing cash flow and financial forecasting.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Coordinating and directing the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitoring and reporting variances, providing actionable insights to management.
Regular Tasks:
- Daily reconciliation of bank and nominal ledger balances and maintaining accurate ledgers—Sales, Purchases & General.
- Producing management accounts for CFO review.
- Completing and filing VAT returns.
- Chasing clients for outstanding balances and negotiating with suppliers for better credit terms.
- Preparing and proposing daily payment runs.
- Managing supplier payments and communications.
- Monitoring overhead expenses and general cost of sales.
- Ensuring purchase order processes and systems are followed and fit for purpose.
- Routine procedures such as checking invoices against purchase orders, generating invoices, filing, and other ad hoc accounting tasks.
HR / Office Management:
- Ensuring all company policies are up to date with the latest company and government guidelines.
- Onboarding new employees with all necessary documentation.
- Overseeing the company appraisal schedule.
- Consulting management on HR guideline updates.
- Leading colleagues and employees to uphold risk management processes.
- Planning and overseeing employee benefit programs.
Qualifications & Skills:
- AAT qualified or qualified by experience.
- At least 3 years’ experience working in an SME environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles.
- Extensive experience with data entry and record keeping.
- Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to work under pressure and independently.
- Identifying areas for process improvement.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership skills to guide and support employees.
- Good understanding of employment law principles.
