Job summary

Hedgehog Recruitment is seeking an experienced Early Years professional to lead our brand-new Preschool room in Hemel Hempstead. You will manage a dedicated team, plan stimulating activities, and help children become school ready in a supportive environment.

You'll have leadership experience, EYFS knowledge, and a passion for developing staff and children. This role offers flexible hours (4–5 days) with opportunities to train and progress as our nursery grows.

Qualifications

• Hold an Early Years qualification equivalent to Level 3 or above.
• Experience with EYFS/Early Years Foundation Stage.
• Experience leading a preschool or unit.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead team of practitioners and manage daily preschool unit operations.
• Plan creative and engaging activities aligned with EYFS needs.
• Develop strong relationships with children and parents/carers.

Preschool Senior Room Leader

Head of Preschool

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Early Years professional to lead our brand‑new Preschool room in a purpose‑built nursery. We are looking for someone with great team spirit and previous leadership experience who can manage the daily running of our pre school unit and be in charge of managing multiple staff and getting our preschoolers independent and school ready!

We are looking for staff who are keen to develop in their early years career with a fantastically supportive and friendly management team!

Working Hours:

Days can be 4 or 5 per week, as we appreciate our staff and a work life balance is important. We are open all year round between 7.30am and 6pm.

Key skills and duties:

Most importantly, to have energy, enthusiasm, empathy, a sense of adventure and fun! :)

• Lead team of practitioners and assist the managerial staff with the smooth running within the preschool unit.
• Plan, creative and fun opportunities according to children’s needs and interests to fulfil the requirements of the EYFS.
• To develop good strong relationships and communication with children parents/carers.
• Working creatively with children so they develop, learn and grow.
• Ensuring all children have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
• Hold a relevant Early Years qualification equivalent to Level 3 or above.
• Experience of working with the EYFS/Early years foundation stage.
• Experience of working with children in an early learning environment
• Good communications skills
• A team player
• Previous leadership experience is a bonus but not essential.
