Job summary

Best Start Recruitment is seeking a Nursery Room Leader for NG2 Nottingham to lead a baby/toddler/preschool room and ensure high-quality care and learning in line with EYFS.

You'll plan and deliver engaging activities, supervise staff, monitor development, maintain documentation, support safeguarding, and build strong partnerships with parents.

This is a full-time role in Nottingham with opportunities to develop leadership skills within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Essential Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare.
• Experience working in a nursery setting.
• Strong knowledge of EYFS.
• Experience supporting or leading a team.

Responsibilities

Nursery Room Leader – NG2 Nottingham

Job Title: Nursery Room Leader (Early Years)

Location: Nottingham

Purpose of the Role: To lead a nursery room (baby, toddler, or preschool), ensuring high-quality care, learning, and development in line with the EYFS framework.

Responsibilities

• Childcare & Development
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities based on EYFS
  • Monitor, assess, and record children’s development
  • Support children’s emotional, social, and physical needs
• Room Leadership
  • Lead and supervise a team of nursery practitioners
  • Delegate tasks and support staff development
  • Maintain staff ratios and daily organisation
• Safeguarding & Welfare
  • Ensure children’s safety and wellbeing at all times
  • Follow safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Report concerns in line with legal requirements
• Administration
  • Maintain accurate records (learning journeys, observations)
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted standards
  • Manage daily room routines and planning
• Parent Partnerships
  • Build strong relationships with parents/carers
  • Provide feedback on children’s progress
  • Support settling-in processes

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare
• Experience working in a nursery setting
• Strong knowledge of EYFS
• Experience supporting or leading a team

Desirable:

• Paediatric First Aid
• Safeguarding training
• Previous Room Leader or Senior Practitioner experience
