Job summary

Pelican Place Nursery in Witham, United Kingdom, is seeking an enthusiastic Nursery Deputy Manager to lead a dedicated team and maintain high standards of care and education.

You will ensure EYFS compliance, manage staff, and oversee medication administration and records, while promoting engaging, child-centred experiences. Level 3 childcare qualification and leadership experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Full and relevant Level 3 in Childcare qualification - Essential.
• Leadership experience - Essential.
• Over 1 year's experience in Early Years - Essential.
• Sound knowledge of the EYFS framework and regulatory requirements - Essential.
• Over 1 year's experience in a management position - Desirable.
• Level 5 qualification in Childcare and/or Management and Leadership - Desirable.
• Experience of passing Ofsted inspection to good or outstanding - Desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent, and visitor.
• Ensure EYFS requirements are met throughout the nursery.
• Assist in managing medication administration and up-to-date care plans.
• Provide stimulating, age-appropriate experiences and resources.
• Maintain effective communication and professionalism.
• Inspire staff with creativity and new challenges to achieve outstanding practice.
• Maintain accurate records in EyMan and filing systems.
• Undertake other duties to ensure smooth nursery operation.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent, and visitor at all times.
• Understand and ensure that the requirements of the statutory framework for the EYFS are met throughout the nursery.
• Assist in managing the acceptance and administration of medication and ensure care plans are thorough and up to date for children or staff with health conditions.
• Ensure that all children receive stimulating and purposeful experiences, environments and resources that are appropriate to their age and stage of development.
• Promote respect and credibility for this position through effective communication skills, impartiality, and consistency.
• Inspire staff team with creative ideas and new challenges with aim to achieve outstanding practice.
• Maintain accurate records and accounts relating to children and staff on EyMan system and on file.
• Undertake any other duties to ensure the smooth running of the nursery and safety and wellbeing of children, staff, and families.
