A leading aerospace and defense company in the UK is seeking a Nuclear Technical Author to develop and maintain technical documentation for submarines. The successful candidate will possess CAT C Watchkeeper experience or relevant NSRP experience, and strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel. This role involves authoring Atomic Books, supporting documentation procedures, and liaising with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety standards. An excellent opportunity has arisen for Engineers with Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP) experience to retrain with us to become a 'Nuclear Technical Author'. We are expanding the service we provide so this is a unique opportunity to join our Systems Department which is part of our Submarine Services Delivery Business Unit based in Derby. Utilising your in‑depth experience and knowledge of submarines as a Nuclear Watchkeeper (Cat C or higher) or engineer with relevant NSRP experience, we will support the development of your IT skills to enable you to join our team, updating PWR2 operating manuals (Atomic Books), the production of a set of new Atomic Books for Dreadnought class and SSNA (PWR3 and PWR3+) and supporting document approvals by the relevant Rolls‑Royce/MoD safety approval groups. As a Nuclear Technical Author, you will be in regular contact with personnel within the Safety and Engineering teams and liaising with MoD, INA and BAES. We will invest in training you and develop your IT skills to become competent using publications software tools to apply your technical knowledge and expertise. You will ensure the plant and support equipment is supplied through life with accurate and up‑to‑date technical and operational documentation in accordance with contract requirements and agreed programme deliverables (time, cost, quality).
