Job summary

WSP is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute to the full nuclear asset lifecycle, delivering designs and solutions across new build, operations, life extension and decommissioning. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, coordinating interfaces with structural, mechanical, electrical and process engineering, while ensuring compliance with safety and design standards.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE) or working towards professional chartership.
• Experience delivering civil engineering projects throughout the nuclear asset lifecycle, including new build, operations, asset care and maintenance, life extension, decommissioning, waste management and environmental remediation, with an understanding of UK nuclear programmes, including SMRs, AMRs and associated infrastructure.
• Experience in the design and delivery of civil engineering solutions, including site development, earthworks, drainage, highways, utilities and reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Good understanding of relevant design codes and standards including British Standards, Eurocodes, and nuclear-specific standards
• Experience undertaking feasibility studies, optioneering, concept design and detailed design activities.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and coordinate interfaces across complex engineering projects.
• Understanding of design risk management, CDM regulations and the application of health and safety principles throughout the project lifecycle.
• Good technical report writing, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and review civil engineering designs across projects throughout the nuclear asset lifecycle.
• Develop civil engineering solutions for major nuclear infrastructure projects, including site development, roads and access infrastructure, drainage, earthworks, utility networks and reinforced concrete structures.
• Undertake feasibility studies, optioneering, site assessments and concept design activities to inform project development and investment decisions.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, efficient and innovative engineering solutions within highly regulated environments.
• Support the integration of civil engineering designs with wider structural, mechanical, electrical and process engineering requirements.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, calculations and health and safety documentation.
• Apply relevant standards, procedures and quality requirements within highly regulated environments.
• Assist with project planning, design coordination and the successful delivery of projects to programme and budget.
• Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and delivery partners across the nuclear and defence sectors.
• Support the development of graduate and early career engineers.
• Contribute to the continued growth, technical excellence and reputation of WSP's Civil Nuclear capability.
