Overview

As a Supermarket Assistant, you'll help our customers feel welcomed on every visit, delivering the Partner-led service and passion for food that Waitrose stands for. Your drive to go the extra mile will shape the impression customers have of the Waitrose brand and encourage loyalty.

Note: If you join us from 5 October, any time worked between 22:00 and 06:00 will attract a Night Premium of £3.50 per hour, applicable to existing Partners enrolled on Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.

Due to working time regulations, applicants must be 18 years or over to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stock replenishment – ensuring shelves are full and products are correctly placed for customers.
  • Fulfilling online customer orders for delivery to customers’ doors.
  • Reducing wastage by following product due diligence and applying markdowns for items nearing sell-by dates.
  • Working with the wider shop team to support when needed, including checkout support, managing Click & Collect orders, fulfilling on-demand orders, and more.
  • Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment with general shopkeeping tasks.
Essential skills/experience
  • Communication skills to work effectively as part of a team and with customers.
Desirable skills/experience
  • Experience in a customer-facing role is welcomed.
  • Up-to-date knowledge and strong interest in food and drink trends.
  • Flexible approach to support the whole branch.
