Job summary
SMT GB in the UK is seeking a Technical Support Specialist for New Machines to act as the lead technical authority during preparation, diagnostics, and commissioning. You will work with engineers, product managers and OEMs to ensure machines are configured correctly before handover.
The role requires extensive fault diagnosis across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and CAN-bus systems, with experience using OEM diagnostic software.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of Volvo Construction Equipment product range.
- Advanced diagnostic capability across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and CAN-bus systems.
- Experience using OEM diagnostic software and machine configuration tools.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert diagnostic support and engineering guidance at the New Machine Preparation Centre.
- Assist engineers with fault finding across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and software systems.
- Lead investigations into complex, repetitive or escalated technical issues with robust root cause analysis.
- Produce detailed technical reports, engineering feedback, and OEM submissions to support continuous product improvement.
- Work with Technical Support Team and Product Managers to resolve technical concerns and maintain OEM standards.
- Ensure machines are correctly configured, commissioned and updated per latest bulletins and software releases.
