Job description

We are currently recruiting for a skilled Music Teacher to join a small provision in Coventry. You will be required to deliver high-quality music education to children with complex needs, including mental health challenges and behaviours that may be challenging at times. This role requires patience, creativity, and the ability to engage students in a supportive and structured way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging music lessons tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Support students with mental health needs and manage challenging behaviour effectively and sensitively.
  • Use music as a tool to promote emotional regulation, social skills, and self-expression.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider staff team to support holistic student development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and adapt teaching approaches as required.
  • Contribute to the development of school performances, workshops, and events.
Person Specification
  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) is preferred but not essential.
  • A qualification specific to music or music teaching is required.
  • Experience teaching music to children with additional needs, particularly those with mental health challenges or challenging behaviours.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm and positive under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative, flexible, and resourceful approach to teaching.
