Job summary

The British Museum in London is seeking a Box Office Assistant to join our Visitor & Security Services team. You will be the first point of contact for visitors, helping them access exhibitions, events and lectures while delivering outstanding service.

As part of a small team, you will develop a solid understanding of the museum's work, collections and public programmes, while supporting continuous improvements across the box office function.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy customer-facing environment such as box office or call centre.
• Outstanding communication and telephone skills with high-quality service.
• Confidence promoting or upselling products and services.
• Strong attention to detail and IT skills with databases and Microsoft systems.
• Ability to stay calm, organized and professional in a fast-paced environment, with collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Sell and promote tickets for exhibitions and events.
• Process bookings, including school and group bookings.
• Provide information about exhibitions, facilities and visitor services.
• Respond to enquiries by telephone and escalate when needed.
• Maintain records and databases and handle payments.
