Job summary

Wates Smartspace in Swadlincote is seeking an experienced Multi Trader to join our responsive maintenance team, working across social housing properties in and around Swadlincote. This is a customer‑facing role where quality, care, and getting things right first time really matter.

You will carry out responsive repairs and maintenance within occupied homes, ensuring work is safe, efficient, and to our high standards.

Qualifications

• Proven multi-skilled trade background.
• Experience working in social housing repairs or maintenance.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Strong customer service approach in residents' homes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out responsive repairs and maintenance across social housing properties.
• Perform general multi-trade tasks (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, etc.).
• Diagnose and resolve day‑to‑day repair issues.
• Update job records using mobile devices.
• Work safely and to company standards and SLAs.

The Role

You'll be responsible for carrying out a wide range of responsive repairs and maintenance works within occupied social housing homes, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Typical tasks will include:

• General multi‑trade repairs (carpentry, minor plumbing, patch plastering, basic tiling, etc.)
• Diagnosing and resolving day‑to‑day repair issues
• Working professionally in residents' homes with a strong customer focus
• Completing work to agreed SLAs and company standards
• Accurately updating job records using a mobile device

What We're Looking For

Essential requirements:

• Proven trade background (multi‑skilled)
• NVQ Level 2 in a relevant trade (or equivalent)
• Experience in social housing responsive maintenance
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong customer service skills and a professional approach in residents' homes
