Job summary

Fortus Recruitment Group Limited has a vacancy for an experienced Multi-Trade Operative to join a social housing contractor in Harlow and surrounding areas, covering repairs, maintenance and refurbishment across occupied and void properties.

You will work across carpentry, basic plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating, delivering high-quality workmanship, strong fault-finding skills and excellent customer service to residents in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Proven multi-trade experience in property maintenance.
• Trades across carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out multi-trade repairs and maintenance in social housing properties.
• Undertake carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, painting and decorating tasks.
• Complete responsive and planned maintenance to high standards.
• Diagnose faults and identify repairs.
• Work safely in occupied and void properties and keep work areas clean.

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi-Trade Operative to join an established social housing contractor on a permanent basis, covering Harlow and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and reliable tradesperson to join a busy team carrying out repairs, maintenance and refurbishment works within occupied and void social housing properties.

The successful candidate will be confident working across multiple trades, delivering high-quality workmanship and providing excellent customer service to residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out a variety of multi-trade repairs and maintenance works within social housing properties.
• Undertake general Carpentry repairs, basic plumbing, patch plastering, tiling, painting and decorating, and other associated maintenance tasks.
• Complete responsive repairs and planned maintenance works to a high standard.
• Diagnose faults and identify the appropriate repairs required.
• Work efficiently within occupied and void properties, maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
• Communicate professionally with tenants, residents, colleagues and supervisors.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
• Complete job sheets, work orders and any required documentation accurately.
• Manage workloads effectively to meet deadlines and maintain productivity.

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Multi-Trade Operative within property maintenance, ideally within social housing.
• Competent across a range of trades, including basic plumbing, carpentry, plastering, tiling, and painting and decorating.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a daily workload.
• A professional, reliable and proactive approach to work.
• Relevant trade qualifications are desirable.
