Fortus Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Multi-Trade Operative to join a social housing contractor in Harlow and the surrounding areas.

You will carry out a variety of multi-trade repairs, including carpentry, basic plumbing, plastering, tiling, painting and decorating, and other maintenance tasks.

This permanent, full-time role offers a £37,000 annual salary with benefits such as a company van and fuel card, paid annual leave and a pension.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Multi-Trade Operative within property maintenance, ideally social housing.
• Competent across carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, painting and decorating.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service with residents.

Responsibilities

• Carry out multi-trade repairs and maintenance within social housing properties.

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi-Trade Operative to join an established social housing contractor on a permanent basis, covering Harlow and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and reliable tradesperson to join a busy team carrying out repairs, maintenance and refurbishment works within occupied and void social housing properties.

The successful candidate will be confident working across multiple trades, delivering high-quality workmanship and providing excellent customer service to residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out a variety of multi-trade repairs and maintenance works within social housing properties.
• Undertake general Carpentry repairs, basic plumbing, patch plastering, tiling, painting and decorating, and other associated maintenance tasks.
• Complete responsive repairs and planned maintenance works to a high standard.
• Diagnose faults and identify the appropriate repairs required.
• Work efficiently within occupied and void properties, maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
• Communicate professionally with tenants, residents, colleagues and supervisors.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
• Complete job sheets, work orders and any required documentation accurately.
• Manage workloads effectively to meet deadlines and maintain productivity.

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Multi-Trade Operative within property maintenance, ideally within social housing.
• Competent across a range of trades, including basic plumbing, carpentry, plastering, tiling, and painting and decorating.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a daily workload.
• A professional, reliable and proactive approach to work.
• Relevant trade qualifications are desirable.
