As a Multi‑Skilled Operative – Damp, Mould and Disrepair at Freebridge Community Housing, you’ll carry out essential maintenance and repairs as well as preventative work, focusing on damp, mould, and disrepair issues across our housing stock. From plumbing and plastering to kitchen unit reinstalls, you’ll use your trade expertise to deliver high‑quality solutions that meet compliance standards and exceed customer expectations. You’ll work closely with surveyors and coordinators, ensuring timely completion of works under Awaab’s Law and helping us maintain safe, healthy homes.

Freebridge was set up in 2006, to receive the transfer of the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk’s housing stock. What you’ll be doing
  • Multi‑trade maintenance: Undertake maintenance and construction tasks across multiple trades, applying your skills in line with the Freebridge Standard and industry best practice to deliver excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Damp & mould remediation: Resolve damp, mould, and condensation issues in customers’ homes, ensuring compliance with Awaab’s Law.
  • Progress reporting: Report directly to the Damp, Mould & Disrepair Surveyor on progress, issues, and completion of tasks.
  • Team collaboration: Work closely with the Compliance team and Property Services colleagues to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Problem‑solving: Diagnose and resolve issues using your multi‑trade experience, taking responsibility for completing tasks to the required standards.
  • Customer communication: Explain works clearly to customers and colleagues, including timescales, and maintain a positive experience throughout.
  • Health & safety compliance: Work safely at all times, following internal procedures and industry standards to protect yourself, colleagues, customers, and the public.
  • End‑to‑end job management: Manage tasks from pre‑inspection through to completion, including specification, material ordering, and accurate record‑keeping.
  • Equipment care: Inspect, maintain, and clean tools, vehicles, PPE, ICT equipment, and uniforms, ensuring they represent the Freebridge brand positively.
  • Material management: Order, store, and record materials responsibly, minimising waste and ensuring full accountability.
What we’re looking for
Essential
  • Specific qualifications as required by trade
  • Evidence of training in secondary and tertiary trade skills
  • 3 years’ experience in main trade within a maintenance environment
  • 1 year’s experience in secondary or other trades
  • Experience and training in health and safety and ladder use
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Ability to carry out tasks in a clean and safe manner
  • Ability to use ICT mobile systems and complete auditable paperwork
  • Ability to complete full multi‑skilled tasks such as bathroom/kitchen replacements including tiling, plastering, and painting
  • Unquestionable integrity and commitment to efficiency and value for money
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
  • NVQ Level 3 Maintenance Operations or City & Guilds trade qualification.
  • Formal apprenticeship in main trade.
  • Experience in damp and mould remediation (training will be provided).
